Terrell Hills is a suburban community off the old Austin Highway five miles northeast of downtown San Antonio in central Bexar County. The community was named for Frederick Terrell, who promoted the area as a residential addition in the late 1920s. The City has about 5019 residents and about 1900 households.
Terrell Hills is one of the most popular and well established. It offers strong community involvement and much appreciation for the elegance of a well built community. It has a variety of older charm that was built in the 1920s in addition to the new custom homes, so it brings a lot of character to this great community.
Alamo Heights has the highest test scores of any school in Bexar county, and being smaller (4-A) than some other districts in this larger metropolitan area, the schools have a personable feel. The Alamo Heights Independent School District serves the communities of Alamo Heights, Olmos Park, Terrell Hills and a portion of north San Antonio. The district was founded in 1909 as a rural school district and became an independent school district in 1923. Approximately 29,737 people live in the district, which contains two elementary schools, one junior school, and one senior high school. Each year approximately 94% of Alamo Heights High School graduates continue their formal education by attending college, 74% in four –year colleges and 20% in junior colleges.
